Clipbridge
User guide

How Clipbridge works

Clipbridge is a private clipboard that follows you between devices. Save a piece of text, a link or a file on one device, sign in on another, and it is there. Everything is encrypted before it is stored and removed when it expires.

  1. Create an account
  2. Save something
  3. Sign in elsewhere
  4. Pick it up

Watch: how Clipbridge works

Six minutes from a new account to a one-time guest link, filmed on a demo workspace with made-up people. Captions are built in.

In a minute · 1:16 · the short version

1. Your account

  • Go to Create account and choose a username, your display name and a strong password. There is no email verification and no password reset by email: if you lose the password, the workspace owner has to help.
  • The first time you sign in with a password someone set for you, Clipbridge makes you choose a new one before anything else works.
  • Sessions last at most seven days and end after twelve hours without activity. When that happens you are simply asked to sign in again; nothing is lost.
  • Sign out from the menu on any device you do not control.

2. Saving text, links and files

The dashboard opens on the composer. Its three tabs do the same thing for three kinds of content:

  • Text: paste or type anything, from a one-time code to a paragraph.
  • Link: a URL, shown as a clickable link with a preview label on the other side.
  • File: drop a file on the box or click to browse, up to 25 MB each. The file is checked for malware on the way in when scanning is enabled.

Choose how long the item should live, then save. It appears at the top of the activity list with a lock icon: the content, its name and its preview were encrypted before they touched storage. Items disappear on their own when they expire, and you can delete one sooner. Your workspace can hold 250 MB of unexpired files at a time.

3. Picking it up on another device

  • Open clipbridge.zooshan.com on the other device and sign in with the same account. Everything unexpired is already in the list; new items arrive live while the page is open.
  • Text: press copy. Links: open or copy. Files: download.
  • The Add this device card on the dashboard shows the address and a copy button so you can type it on a phone or laptop without hunting for it.

4. People and guest links

Connections. Invite someone by their Clipbridge username. Once they accept, both of you can send items directly to each other; the activity list shows who sent what. Either side can remove the connection.

Guest links. To hand a file to someone without an account, create a guest link. It is shown once, so copy it straight away, and it works in exactly one browser: the first one to open it claims it. Send files into that guest session and the guest downloads them; guests cannot upload. Links expire, and you can revoke one from the dashboard at any time.

5. What is protected, and what is not

  • Every payload, file name, preview and file type is encrypted with AES-256-GCM before storage, and the encryption key can be rotated without touching old items.
  • Encryption happens on the server, so the server holds the key. This is not end-to-end encryption: it protects the stored data and backups, not against the operator of the service. Do not treat Clipbridge as a vault for secrets you would not hand to the operator.
  • Sessions are opaque, revocable tokens in secure HTTP-only cookies. Passwords are stored as versioned scrypt hashes.
  • Per-account and per-address rate limits apply, and audit events record actions without recording content.
  • Uploads are read into memory, never into a public folder; original file names are not logged.

6. Common questions

I was signed out without doing anything

Twelve hours passed without activity, or seven days since you signed in. Sign in again; your items are still there until they expire.

A file was refused

It is over 25 MB, the workspace is at its 250 MB active limit, or the malware scan rejected it. Delete expired items you no longer need, or split the file.

My guest says the link does not work

Guest links open in one browser only and expire. If they opened it once in another browser, or it has expired or been revoked, create a new link.

Something I saved is gone

It reached the expiry you chose. Expiry is deliberate: Clipbridge is a bridge, not a filing cabinet. Save a copy on the receiving device for anything you want to keep.

Can I use it without an account?

Only as a guest receiving files through a link someone created. Saving and sending need an account.
